Avillion Port Dickson Hotel and Resort

Hello!

Another blog post after a long week busy travelling around. Finally it's Saturday! Wheehee! A little ME time that I needed the most. Spent a good afternoon in an Italian Restaurant, just to have a good lunch and a cup of good coffee. This week was a very productive week, attended first half of a training session and will continue the second half next week.

Returning to the old working place brought back many bitter sweet memories to me. Excited to see old friends again, but at the same time, felt a little distance from where I have been. It just reminds me to cherish everything that I have now and to live in the moment.

Today, I just want to share a little about my last trip to Port Dickson. Port Dickson (PD) is a holiday destination situated about 90km from Kuala Lumpur and 32km from Seremban, in the state of Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. There are many hotels and resorts along the coastline. Among the places of interest located nearby are Lukut Museum and Fort, PD Ostrich Farm, Royal Port Dickson Yacht Club and the Armed Forces Museum. It is definitely a good option for a short weekend getaway ^_^

The pictures below are taken from the Avillion Port Dickson. Good choice for family trip!

Good night!

A Trip to Perak - Program Transformasi Minda (PTM) & Kellie's Castle

Hello everyone!

It has been a year since I last updated the blog. Wow. No, I didn't forget about my blog.
Life has been really hectic. But I still do read and reply emails and comments from you guys. Thanks for writing to me :)

Last June, I completed my hospital training and finally moved back to hometown. Moving back to hometown was emotional, exciting and definitely a joyful one. I finally get to stay together with my parents again, setting up a small home office for myself, spending more quality time with friends. Really glad that this day has finally come.

In November, I went to Perak with my friends to attend Program Transformasi Minda in KSKB Ulu Kinta. It was one week course with accommodation provided in the college. We had a series of talks from different speakers and a sketch/presentation at the end of the program by the participants. This also marks the end of our PRP year and I feel so blessed that we are able to have an enjoyable trip before heading to the new working place.

Meeting new friends!

 When the Monashians reunite!

We went to Kellie's Castle (Kellie's Folly) before heading back to Kuala Lumpur. Kellie's Castle was meant to be a home away from home for Scottish Planter, William Kellie Smith in the 20th Century. It was said that this castle is either a gift for his wife or a home for his son. Construction of this unique castle began in 1915. However, it came to an abrupt halt with Kellie's sudden death in 1926. Recently, efforts have been made by the Perak State Government to rescue this magnificent structure from the encroaching foliage. The castle is situated on the way to Batu Gajah town at the Kinta Kellas Rubber Estate, about a 30-minute drive and 14km south of Ipoh City.

Rengit Coffee - Chicken Caesar Salad + Cappuccino

这家的咖啡很赞!去了还想去!
但是上菜速度有点慢,赶时间的朋友不要在午餐时间过去,
非繁忙时段挺好的。

Methadone Clinic at AADK

Hello world!!

Long weekend! Long weekend! It's gonna be Hari Raya next week! Monday and Tuesday is gonna be public holidays! Ohyay! But that also means I'll have to work on Sunday, since Johor has declared that Friday and Saturday would be our weekend holiday. Nonetheless, we have planned for a holiday trip on next week for one whole week! Geezzz =D *I'm a happy girl*

For the past one week, life has been super busy. I've been allocated at Accident and Emergency Department Pharmacy for 3 days and another 2 days at Outpatient Pharmacy Department. Working at A&E also means there is only one pharmacist and one pharmacist assistant, so when several patients come to pharmacy together, it would be quite jam up at the counter. Thank God, it was overall manageable.

Last Thursday, I had a chance to visit Methadone Clinic at AADK (Agensi Antidadah Kebangsaan) near to our hospital. This was the first time I visited a Methadone Clinic. It is a small clinic located in one of the AADK in the town. The clinic opens at 9am to 11am everyday. Methadone Replacement Therapy (MRT) is one of the harm reduction programs established for opioid abusers to prevent blood-born viral infections (HIV, Hepatitis C, Hepatitis B) by reducing chances of needle sharing. It also provides a smoother quitting process by reducing the withdrawal symptoms as methadone can replace other opioids such as heroin and morphine and thus reduce the cravings and withdrawal symptoms experienced by patients. The ultimate goal is to assist opioid abusers to quit drugs entirely.

More information:
Guideline for Methadone Replacement Therapy Counselling: Click here
Guideline for Dispensing of Methadone Replacement Therapy: Click here

The guidelines include everything you need to know about the replacement therapy program including withdrawal effects, signs and symptoms, doses, legal documentations etc.

There were quite a number of patients ranging from different age groups and races. I spent the entire 2 hours syringing out methadone for patients with different doses ranging from 1ml to 25ml. It really makes me think how does these few mLs of liquid can make such huge impact in human's life. All the consequences, effects, problems etc. etc. that are affecting many people around a single person. I really hope to see everyone to be ultimately quitting drugs and live a drug-free life.

Next week I'll be going to Inpatient Pharmacy. Getting excited!

Till then!

Much love,
Ching Yee

[Provisionally Registered Pharmacist] - Batu Pahat

Hellooo! Sunshiniesss!!

I'm back home again after 4 days!! Last night I spent about 3 hours preparing for the assessment on counselling skills for patients on inhalers, insulin pens, warfarin usage etc. until about 12am midnight. Suddenly boyfie texted me on the news article which announced 26th June 2014 as a public holiday after Johor Darul Takzim FC (JDT) were crowned 2014 Malaysia Super League Champions. I was like Hoorayy!! Is tomorrow really a public holiday? I was so excited to come home!! Even though it was announced in the midnight and we couldn't be sure of it but I was still super excited and I woke up twice at 3am and 4am just to see if it is morning already so I can be home!
**Haha, YEAH! I'm --THAT-- HOMESICK**!

I was wondering when will we receive the letter from SPA & KKM to inform us to report duty in respective hospital. After 7 months, we finally know the answer now. I had my interview in Putrajaya Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Awam during end of 2013, I think it was around September/October. Final exam was in November. I received the first letter which is the Surat Lantikan (from SPA) and Sijil Pendaftaran Bersyarat (from Pharmacy Board) as Provisionally Registered Pharmacist (PRP) in February and subsequently received the second letter from Kementerian Kesihatan (MOH) to go for medical check up in April and lastly received letter from Kementerian Kesihatan to report duty on June at MOH of Johor State somewhere in the middle of May. There are 4 letters which PRP would need to receive before report duty at hospital.

1. First letter
a. Surat Lantikan from Suruhanjaya Perkhidmatan Awam
b. Sijil Pendaftaran Bersyarat from Lembaga Farmasi (Pharmacy Board)

2. Second letter
a. Surat Setuju Terima Perlantikan
b. Surat Akuan Sumpah - Do the sumpah at your local court/Mahkamah
c. Surat Aku Janji (Contoh) - The hospital will give the original copy upon reporting duty at hospital
d. Borang Pemeriksaan Doktor untuk Perlantikan ke Perkhidmatan Kerajaan - Bring this letter to go for medical check up at any Klinik Kesihatan (**go early in the morning)

3. Third letter
a. Surat Penempatan - which will inform which state of Malaysia you have been allocated

I reported duty at Ministry of Health for Johor state with another two friends on the 16th June 2014.

4. Fourth letter
a. When you report at the MOH of the state, the officer will issue another letter to inform you which hospital that you have been allocated

Luckily all of us have been posted to the same place, at least now we can have lunch together and learn together. Nevertheless, we have made a lot of new friends over here in the hospital as well.

I've started the PRP program for 2 weeks already. Things were in a total mess initially because we were worrying about accommodation, trying to adapt to the new environment, brushing up our clinical knowledge etc. I was praying really hard to be posted in Hospital Sultanah Aminah as it is the nearest training hospital to my house. Unfortunately, there was no vacancy for PRP post in the hospital. Hence, ended up three of us all being posted to Hospital Batu Pahat! I was totally unprepared to go to Batu Pahat, but I know life would be more excited and fun once you are willing to step out of your comfort zone. Thank God Batu Pahat is just 1.5 hours away from my house. I'm still able to come home often. God is in control ^_^

We reported at Ministry of Health of Johor State in the morning at 9am, subsequently reported to Pharmacy Department of the Johor State before heading to Hospital Batu Pahat. We have to report to the hospital within the same day and would need to start work on the second day. It was a super tiring day just travelling up and down! My first impression on Batu Pahat was quite good actually. Away from all the hassle in the city, Batu Pahat is a small town located approximately 88km away from Johor Bahru in the state of Johor. The first thing that caught my attention were hills, hills and hills around the hospital. The weather was so good, the sky was blue and there are birds churping around even at 4pm (I think I usually only hear birds singing in the morning not in the hot afternoon?) We reached the hospital about 3pm in the afternoon and reported in the administration office, then filled up tonnes of forms for about 2 hours.

I came back home that day to pack my stuff to BP as I did not prepared anything beforehand.

Lesson of the day: Always prepare yourself earlier while you still have time. Don't wait till last minute. ^_^

Till then.

Goodbye 2013 and Welcome to 2014

2013 has just ended and we are moving into a whole new year. The last two months of 2013 was pretty crazy and tiring. Thinking back, I would say I spent these two months just chilling with friends, anxious about graduating (I know anxious doesn't help on anything but I'm just constantly worry idk why lol), settling some personal stuff and thinking about my future. Now I'm back at my hometown, finally graduated from university and in the process of getting a job. This transition period is going on well, I don't know if I can consider it as processing smoothly, but I hope it will all turns out good.

This year has been tough for me even though I've reduced a lot of workload off my shoulder. Just feel like the inner part of me is not recovering well, not back to what I used to be yet. Honestly, it is so torturing. I know nobody can understand what's going on within me or maybe they just won't believe it, and the only solution can only come out from myself. I'm glad that I've decided to take a break at the start of this year. Now one year has past, I would say things are getting better, even though it is only moving slowly. So my new year resolution? Hopefully I can open up myself more and shooooo all negative energy. Also, find back myself soon. No more escaping thoughts, no more hiding thoughts, no more running away and learn how to say NO.

Looking forward to 2014. Tomorrow is the last day of my work. I'm helping out the local bookstore near my house selling books and stationery. The auntie whom I work with is so friendly and kind. It has been a wonderful two weeks working with her everyday. Starting to feel a bit sad that tomorrow is the last day working with her for this time round. Hopefully next year we will work again =) The calendar starts from January again. Just got bits and pieces of ideas of things I want to achieve this year. Get a job and work hard for my goals, working on my blogshop, more crafting, more reading, piano lessons (finally I'm back in JB to do this), prepare my home office (which is already in the process and I'm so excited!), be more organized and productive...... ... ... and so many more! Must get some time to prepare for my complete new year resolutions!

One thing that is always on my list ---> is to blog more! ^_^

Don't forget to follow this blog and my twitter account!

Happy New Year to all of you! Wishing you a prosperous year ahead and May God richly bless you!

Signing off. xoxo
